Perla played an instrumental role in helping me fluently learn Spanish from beginning in the Dual Immersion program at Valley View Elementary School, to finishing Spanish IV with a 5 on the AP test in addition to finishing Spanish V with a 4 on the AP test. Too often in school especially when taking on a second language (which Spanish was for myself) a lot of the material can seem overwhelming when school’s expect you to fully grasp the material taught after one lesson on it. Having an outlet source who takes the time in small group sessions or one on one sessions to thoroughly break down whatever seems confusing and ensure you understand it, was a vital contributing aspect to the success I had in even the highest level Spanish courses. Additionally, what makes Perla a unique tutor is that she is very up to date and familiar with the coursework students have at every grade level for basically every elementary, middle, and high school in Pleasanton. Finding a tutor who simply fluently speaks Spanish themselves would not be able to offer much more beyond help with the language, however given that Perla has worked with countless students from each grade K-12 who all had varying teachers and coursework gives her an invaluable insight to the courses any future or current students need help in. Overall, she knows the material required for classes at any level, she is very thorough and organized, and above all cares for the success of each individual student.

My child worked with Ms. Perla from sophomore through senior year. Because of orchestra class, she wasn't able to take Spanish during freshman year, so before starting sophomore year, she skipped Spanish 1 and jumped straight into Spanish 2 with Ms. Perla's help. She then took Spanish 3 during junior year and successfully completed AP Spanish senior year. Ms. Perla is incredibly passionate and always treated my child with genuine care. I highly recommend her to any student looking for a Spanish tutor!

Thank you Perla for your wonderful Spanish tutoring classes! I came to Perla hoping to improve my intermediate level Spanish, especially working as a nurse. Perla equipped me with thorough grammar lessons through zoom, worksheets for me to complete as homework, and encouraged me to listen to radios and podcasts in Spanish to help improve my skills. She is kind, patient, understanding, and is always interested in how she can best support you. In my handful of classes I already feel more competent and comfortable communicating with native Spanish speakers. Muchas gracias Perla!

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Wondering
where to start?

We’re happy to help you work it out.

Let’s have a conversation
How do I get started?

Call us to ask about pricing and arrange a paid initial class. Tell us your goals, current Spanish course or level, and preferred times. If you’re calling for your child, let us know their grade too. If you decide to enroll, we’ll look for an individual tutor opening or a suitable existing group. Placement depends on fit and availability.

What happens in the first class?

During a paid initial class, we get to know your Spanish level and learning goals. If you decide to continue, we discuss an available individual lesson time or a suitable group of up to four. When you call, ask about the lesson length and anything you should bring.

How many students are in a group?

Our groups have up to four students, leaving room for each learner to participate, ask questions, and practice. Individual lessons are also available.

Do you offer online lessons?

Most classes take place at our Pleasanton tutoring center. Online lessons are available for some students by arrangement. Call us to discuss what works for you.

What does a class cost?

Please call (925) 922-3010 to discuss prices and schedule an appointment. The initial class is paid; we do not offer free trials.

How will I know how my child is progressing?

We keep parents informed about their student’s progress and provide homework and exercises to reinforce learning. We ask families to support practice and follow-through at home.

When can I schedule a lesson?

We are open Monday–Friday · 8:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Call us to discuss a lesson time and tutor or group availability.
